Sorry...

...about the complete lack of blog activity for, well, too long.

Lots has been happening: a camping trip to WoolFest; a visit to my Grandma and Auntie Fiona in Devon; moving back to Kingston from Newcastle, leaving behind my beloved Newcastle knitters. I couldn't fit them all in my suitcase. (I miss you lovely ladies. Lots.)

I've started work for the same architectural practice in London that I worked at during my year out between the BA and BArch. It's good to be back, but a long day and 1.5ish-hour commute in each direction. I do have about 25 minutes of train knitting time each way so it isn't all bad :o)

Oh, almost forgot to mention, I popped into Stash last week. It's dangerously easy for me to get to: Putney is one train stop from Richmond, or the number 85 bus goes direct from Kingston. Eek. I went with a very specific, one skein goal, and only £10 in my pocket. Yarn for a present for someone. No spare money so couldn't go crazy but pay day next week so will allow myself a small amount of craziness then. I've been promising myself 'Bombshell' for ages now, but haven't got around to it yet. I think next week I'll make a trip to Stash or Loop and see what grabs me. Or I could wait for a visit to'Spinning a Yarn', in Ulverston. I'm planning a visit to the Lakes to see Ann-Marie, Rose and Millie. Unfortunately I can't afford to go to Ellie's wedding in Canada next week :o( However, I'll be taking some time off work as still very tired from end of my degree and need a couple of weeks rest, or a change at least.

London is driving me crazy. I knew it would do. The heat is insane, it's generally between 32-36 C everyday and stays really warm through the night. There are too many people who aren't looking happy, too much pollution and too many cars. And I miss my knitters.

If you knit at a London group, please let me know. I live in Kingston and finish work in Kensington at 6.30pm. I really really need to find a new knitting group. I miss my Newcastle knitters. Uh, did I say that already? Anyway, I need to find some fellow fibre addicts I can knit with on a regular basis.

I've been looking at spinning classes at Handweavers Studio in September and I've found a great two day course at the Embroiderer's Guild but that isn't until October.

I'm giving London a year. Then I'm going to New Zealand. No, seriously. You at the back...stop laughing.

Oh, before I forget, the reason I haven't been blogging is because my parents' computer can't handle uploading photos. Can't handle much at all really. BUT, fantastic news, Dad has ordered a new computer. This is very very exciting news :o)

It means I'll be back to blogging every day as soon as it arrives. Lots of pictures to show you. See you then.

Welcome back to London...

...really I wish I could have said that with a bit more enthusiasm to cheer you up, but I can't lie... I've fallen out of love with London and can't wait to move to the sea... that aside, it's a bit of a trek... but there's a FABULOUS knitting group that meets at the New Rose Pub on Essex Road (N1) every Tuesday evenings from 6-ish (I never get there before 6.45-7 thou). We'd love to have you :)

Blog here: http://angelknitslondon.blogspot.com/

Any questions, just email me :)

Having said that, I just remembered that there's Knitting Hill, a knitting group in Notting Hill (no, really? you hadn't guessed from the name?!), that's more in your neck of the woods, however I can't remember when they meet, ask on www.castoff.info, they're bound to know, or even better look here: http://acechick.typepad.com/knitchicks_groups/archives.html

Hey Flossie,

I'm looking to join a knitting group too. There is one in Putney that have a yahoogroup (South West Knitters, I think), but I haven't summoned up the courage to go on my own.

I would prefer a SW one as I have to get back to Windsor, so let me know if that suits you and maybe we could jump in together? :)

Aw Alice we miss you here too!

Have you ever been along to the I Knit London nights organised by Gerard who is doing the knitted river?

Here's some details. he also has a nice looking stall in Spitalfields market. I think they knit in a different part of London each week/fortnight or something like that:

We miss you in Newcastle Alice. You should come and see us and take advantage of the cool breeze that comes off the North Sea. Hope you manage to find a new set of knitters to perplex with your twisty yarn signature ;)

Kensington?

For AGES i've been talking about setting up a South Kensington knitting group, but it keeps falling apart because people argue about days. There are loads of knitters at the science museum (including boys), and I've seen a fair number of knitters round Imperial College too. There HAS to be people at the art college, and the V&A...

Idea? my email is alice dot bell at my college (imperial.ac etc etc)
